What’s the difference between Restylane and Dysport?
Although both of them are great for reducing wrinkles, they both are used for different purposes.
- Dysport is an FDA-approved injectable for the treatment of wrinkles. Dysport is a neurotoxin that when injected, block nerve signals to the muscles basically freezing the wrinkles.
- Restylane is a filler containing hyaluronic acid and injected to fill in moderate to severe deep facial wrinkles and folds.
Both Dysport and Restylane differ in how long it takes the injectables to start working and how long the results will last. As every patient and treatment is different, your results may differ from someone else, especially depending on the area and procedure.
You won’t see immediate results with Dysport as it starts to work around three to five days after the injection. You will see the wrinkles start to soften and this effect typically lasts from three to five months. Typically, before the current one wears off, patients tend to come back for another treatment every four months.
Restylane is a longer lasting cosmetic treatment. Patients may want to return earlier for upkeep since it wears off over time. Though it may also take less than two weeks to achieve the full effect, the softening process can take anywhere from several weeks to settle.
